One of Lobby 99's greatest strengths is its members, who support the organization not only with their contributions but also with their expertise and their time.

Volunteering at Lobby 99 covers a range of activities including research, data analysis, and database management, all dedicated to supporting our public advocacy efforts. Content volunteering is not always possible since our needs shift over time. On this page, you can read about what content volunteering at Lobby 99 involves, and how volunteers make a real difference to our work. Our Research Manager, Ariel Paz-Swiczky, coordinates this engagement and can be reached by email. 

What does volunteering at Lobby 99 involve?

This type of volunteering encompasses foundational research on specific issues we plan to take on within our broader policy areas. For example, within our environment work volunteers might investigate green taxation policies for private vehicles. Such research typically involves legal and economic analysis, a review of current laws and regulations in Israel, analysis of governmental documents, comparative research from other countries, and identifying organizations and researchers already focused on the issue.

Who is Suitable?
This role is well-suited to individuals with a background in policy, law, accounting, urban planning, policy writing, and proficient English.  

What it Involves:
Participants in this volunteer work are expected to dedicate approximately 20-30 hours per month during their engagement. Volunteers should be self-motivated and able to work independently, though the Research Manager is available for guidance when needed. Volunteers do not engage directly in lobbying activities within the Knesset and government.

Lobby 99’s legal department handles a wide range of cases. Experienced lawyers can volunteer by drafting secondary legal petitions, such as freedom-of-information requests.

In recent years, the lobby has expanded its use data tools to gather and analyze conomic data that informs our research. We have a range of needs in this area, and we are usually looking for people skilled in:

  • Managing information systems, 
  • Working with AWS cloud databases (RDS, Lambda), 
  • Utilizing data scrapers (such as selenium, requests, playwright, etc.), 
  • Analyzing and visualizing data sets (using R, PostgreSQL, and similar tools), 
  • Analyzing pricing data, 
  • Background in finance and accounting, 
  • Conducting statistical research, 
  • Engaging in Natural Language Processing (NLP). 

As a crowdfunding initiative, our impact is directly tied to the size of our membership. The more members we have, the more issues we can take on, and the greater our influence with decision-makers. We are working to expand our reach, raise our visibility, and recruit newmembers. In this area, we are seeking volunteers in the following roles:

  • Assisting our public lobbyists in home meet-ups, segmented by residential areas. 
  • Providing support with telephone recruitment and responses. 
  • Offering innovative ideas for unique field volunteering.

Many of our members bring decades of senior experience from the business sector or public service. These volunteers do not take on research tasks instead, they draw on their experience to help sharpen Lobby 99’s strategy and messaging across the issues we work on. If this fits your background, especially if you have worked in economic sectors, we would greatly value your input.
*This kind of volunteering does not require a minimum time commitment; it is advisory by nature.

Who might find volunteering less suitable?

High school students, soldiers, and undergraduate students may find content volunteering at Lobby 99 less appropriate, as it requires specific and significant professional experience However, marketing and recruitment volunteering is accessible to students and does not require prior experience or specialized knowledge.
